Randy Dorn Testifies Before House Education Committee 2/18/2011
State Superintendent Randy Dorn testified this week before the House Education Committee on legislation that would base reductions in force on teacher evaluations. He says the system put in place years ago did not help teachers improve, and it didn’t do a good job of removing ineffective teachers. Instead of just satisfactory or unsatisfactory, this new system will place teachers on a four-tiered system, which will allow for more detailed evaluations. Dorn says that should help principals in their efforts to improve struggling teachers and, as a last resort, to remove ineffective ones.
