A fire at a Pateros mobile home last Friday afternoon killed one person and seriously burned the landlord, who tried to enter the burning structure to rescue his tenant.
Identification of the body removed from the burned-out single-wide trailer on Starr Road is expected following an autopsy, said Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers.
Ervin Wolley, her 77-year-old landlord who lives nearby, reported the fire at 4:40 p.m., and then tried to go inside the mobile home to rescue her, Rogers said.
Wolley has been in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non-life-threatening burns to his hands and head, Rogers said.
Rogers said the cause of the fire appears to be accidental, but is still under investigation.
Firefighters from Pateros, Brewster and Methow responded to the blaze and were able to contain it to the mobile home.
