The Manson Slope Stabilization project at Rocky Point on SR 150 is nearing the start of construction. The current plan includes a preliminary schedule that involves working 6 days a week, Monday thru Saturday, beginning two weeks from today.. Monday February 28th.
The first full week of construction, Monday 28th thru Saturday March 5th, motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians can expect one lane traffic control during daylight hours while crews set up temporary barriers and prepare for slope work.
However the following week, beginning Monday March 7th thru Saturday the 12th you need to plan for full roadway closure from 8 AM to 4:30 PM with 30 minute openings at 10 AM, 12 PM, and 2 PM. Followed by one lane traffic control from 4:30 PM to 8 AM. During this period, the contractor will be scaling loose rock off the slope and clearing it from the roadway.
The following four weeks March 14th – April 9th … full roadway closures will be in effect Monday thru Saturday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM with 30 minute openings at 10 AM, 12 PM, and 2 PM. There will also be one-lane traffic control during daylight hours outside of the closure times. During this period, the contractor will be installing rock bolts and dowels to stabilize the slope.
A detour will be in place during the construction period. You can drive around the project by using Boyd Rd. when heading west or turning at Winesap Avenue heading east.
As the project enters the final stage of construction in April and May, the full closures will be lifted and one lane traffic control during daylight hours will be in effect while crews install cable net slope protection.
The General Contractor, Hi-Tech Rockfall Construction, has a projected completion date of Thursday May 12th.
However, as we experienced with the slope stabilization project near Rocky Reach Dam on 97A… this is a preliminary schedule and things change. Stay tuned to Kozi for the latest updates.
