Link Transit Officials Met Friday to Discuss Strategies 2/10/2011
LINK Transit officials met with board members last Friday to discuss strategies for fixing a glaring budget shortfall. LINK says it must cut routes and increase fares. But the actual nitty-gritty of how public transportation’s budget tightening will actually play out remains to be seen.

LINK Marketing Director Eric West says, the board is considering a wide range of options depending on various economic scenarios:"CLICK HERE" for Audio
West expects the board to come up with a final draft by April or May. In the meantime, they have a lot of options to consider. Paramount in their decision making will be minimizing the impact to riders as much as possible.

The public will still have ample opportunity to comment on proposed changes to LINK’s routes and fares before the final decisions are made.

More focus groups will be hosted throughout the service region in coming weeks. The next one is scheduled for the Olds Station LINK base in Wenatchee next Wednesday at 6:00. Chelan riders will get their chance Wednesday the 23rd at the Chamber offices.
