Chelan School District Maintenance and Operations Levy 2/4/2011
Among the bond and levy measures coming up for a vote next Tuesday, the Chelan School District is asking voters to approve a maintenance and operations levy that will run over the next three years. Chelan Schools Superintendent Rob Manahan says it’s a critical 19 percent of their budget that affects programs throughout the district. The measure replaces an expiring levy and would commence at the beginning of the 2011 school year this fall, and would collect about $2.7 million with an estimated tax levy rate of $1.45 per $1,000 of assessed value. Collections for the second year would total just over $2.8 million with a tax of about $1.48 per $1,000 of assessed value. The final year’s levy amount would be just under $2.9 million raised with an assessment of $1.53 per $1,000.

At the end of the day, Manahan looks upon the levy as a vote of confidence on how the district is doing: "CLICK HERE" for Audio
Mail-in ballots have been trickling in, and Manahan reminds voters that every vote, yea or nay, counts. Ballots must be postmarked or turned in by midnight next Tuesday
