Tonight’s meeting of the Winthrop Town Council will focus on some housecleaning issues related to the Spring Creek Bridge Project, including a resolution to award the contract for the project to Mowatt Construction, which won the bid over two other competitors.
The project has been a long time goal to help with pedestrian and bicycle traffic in the Winthrop area. Mayor Dave Acheson says it’s an improvement that will be around for decades, maybe longer.
Matching funds for the Spring Creek Bridge and Susie Stephens trail projects are available through the end of this year. The goal is to have everything completed by the end of October.
Other items on tonight’s agenda include the swearing in of Deputy Marshal Ken Bajema, and further discussion of efforts to consolidate the local fire protection with Fire District Six.
The meeting starts at 7:00 tonight in the Winthrop Barn.
