Winthrop Council Meeting 1/21/2011
The long awaited naming of the primary contractor for the Spring Creek Bridge project was unveiled at Wednesday’s Winthrop Town Council meeting . Mayor Dave Acheson (ACH-eh-sen) says the project had been delayed in part due to the death of the original winning contractor that sent the selection process back to the drawing board. The $ 2.2 million bridge project is part of a larger project that has been in the works for years. While the project consists of several elements and multiple contractors… it’s really all part of a public transportation plan."CLICK HERE" for Audio
Matching funds for the Spring Creek Bridge and Susie Stephens project are available through the end of this year.

In other Winthrop Town Council news…the discussion surrounding the pros and cons of annexing the town’s fire crews in with Fire District 6, was tabled until the next Town Council Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday February 2nd. The Council also agreed to act as the fiscal sponsor for a grant to the non-profit Winthrop Auditorium Association by the Methow Valley Fund to update the sound system in the city-owned Winthrop Barn.
