PUD Mulling Over Details Of Financial Plan 1/19/2011
The Chelan County Public Utility District is mulling over the details of their latest financial plan. Among the various ins and outs of daily operations, Commissioner Dennis Bolz says the big question is how best to determine the amount of cash reserves and other sources needed to cover risks and provide additional financial stability for the PUD’s strategic plan.

Bolz reported the current available reserve is at about 189 million dollars. In other business, commissioners heard an update on legislative issues after the first week of the 2011 session. A bill was filed to extend recreational use immunity to whitewater boating as specified in the federal license for the Lake Chelan Hydro Project. In the meantime, the commissioners are still reviewing plans for rate increases for water and sewer services, and extending the electrical surcharge through the rest of 2011. The next regular meeting of the PUD board is 1 PM next Monday, while the formal hearing on rate changes is scheduled for February 7th.
