Doc Hastings On Possible Ending Of Trade Tariff 1/18/2011
Congressman Doc Hastings says it’s possible that a trade tariff imposed by Mexico on US agriculture exports could end before spring. Hastings says he was notified last week by US Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood that negotiations with Mexico are going well: Last year the Mexican government extended the two-year-old tariff to include US Apples, cherries and pears. Mexico is the largest importer of Washington State Apples.

US Senator Patty Murray has also called on the Mexican government to immediately end their tariffs now that a proposal has been put forward.
